In the Lawrence Bishnoi interview case, the government takes major action… 7 police officers, including 2 DSPs, suspended.
Chandigarh – The Bhagwant Singh Mann government in Punjab has taken significant action in the Lawrence Bishnoi interview case. Six police officers, including former DSP Gursher Singh Sandhu, have been suspended following allegations of arranging an interview with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi on April 3, 2022. The interview reportedly took place while Bishnoi was in the custody of the CIA police station in Kharar. The government suspended all involved officials with immediate effect.
The following officials have been suspended:
- Samar Vaneet, PPS, DSP
- Sub Inspector Reena, CIA, Kharar
- Sub Inspector (LR) Jagatpal Jangoo, AGTF
- Sub Inspector (LR) Shaganjeet Singh
- ASI Mukhtiyar Singh
- HC (LR) Om Prakash
About a year and a half ago, an interview of Lawrence Bishnoi with a national channel went viral, leading to significant criticism of Punjab Police. The Punjab Police clarified that the interview was not conducted from a Punjab jail but from his previous jail. Following the incident, the Punjab and Haryana High Court formed an SIT (Special Investigation Team) to investigate, and on Tuesday, DGP Prabodh Kumar submitted the report to the High Court.
